David Gill offers a personal account of his observations from his frequent travels to various Arctic and Antarctic regions, including Iceland, Norway, Jan Mayen, Svalbard, Greenland, and Antarctica. Through his experiences, he sheds light on the changes occurring in our Polar Regions. Despite being informative and occasionally challenging, David’s sense of humour will be evident throughout. He concludes with reflections on the future for those of us residing in the local area.
David’s unique position as an environmental scientist aboard an HX Hurtigruten Expeditions cruise ship allows him to directly observe and collect data on the changing Polar environments and their impact on wildlife. His work with cetaceans and ecosystems in these regions is crucial for understanding and mitigating the effects of climate change. Additionally, his experience as a former teacher and community extension officer demonstrates his commitment to conservation efforts both locally and globally.

Through his work with the Sussex Dolphin Project and his onboard lectures and workshops, David is dedicated to raising awareness and educating others about the importance of protecting our planet’s delicate ecosystems.
